Tobramycin Inhalation Powder (TIP) Partner: Novartis Indication: Lung infections in cystic fibrosis patients Status: Phase 3 clinical trials

Tobramycin Inhalation Powder (TIP) is in development for the treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a type of bacteria that can cause infections and worsening of symptoms in some patients with cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is a chronic genetic disease that causes the body to produce thick mucus that can clog airways and result in chronic respiratory infections.

Nektar, in partnership with Novartis, is developing a next-generation inhaled, dry-powder tobramycin product using Nektar Advanced Pulmonary Delivery Technology. This novel approach may allow patients to safely receive higher doses of tobramycin than would be safe to administer systemically.
